Our company recruits companions who have experience working with older people. We are passionate about finding those men and women who know that working at home with older people is more than a job. They understand that adjusting to an illness or disability can be challenging for older people and their families. Many of the aides have been with us since our company began in 1986. They come to us with varied backgrounds and training; some are certified nursing assistants and certified health aides. They are screened and tested in the office. All have assisted people who have heart disease, stroke, arthritis, diabetes, cancer, Parkinson's, hip fractures and other illness. Some of the aides have additional training working with people with Alzheimer's disease and other memory loss disorders. They recognize the special needs of these clients and their families and plan appropriate care and activities especially for them. Other aides have had training and experience in caring for terminal ill people at home. They are adept at working with a hospice team, following the directions of medical personnel and respecting the special wishes of patients and their families.
