about us
Gerontology Home Companion Agency, Inc. is
a private homecare aide organization. It was started in
1986 by gerontologists who recognized a need for a different
kind of caregiver agency - not the typical medical model
- but one that would work together with older people and
their families to make safe, sensible and affordable plans
to help people remain at home.
Our company recruits only aides and companions
who have experience working with older people. We are passionate
about finding those men and women who know that working
at home with older people is more than a job. Many of them
have been with us since the company began. Many aides are
certified nursing assistants and certified home health aides;
some are nursing professionals from other countries. They
have many years experience as homecare aides. They impress
us every day with their integrity and their dedication.
As gerontologists, Evelyn Mandel and Anne
Hanssen understand the physical, social and psychological
issues involved with normal aging and the challenges of
those who are coping with illness and disability. They are
familiar with community resources and the local continuum
of care. They both worked actively in the company to oversee
operations and to provide counsel to families who need extra
support.
